Wanted: Alert Issued For Men Using Child To Steal Power Tool In Port Jefferson

The Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s assistance as they attempt to track down two men who used a child to help them steal a saw from a Port Jefferson hardware store.

According to police, the two men, accompanied by two children, entered MVP Power Outdoor Equipment on Comseqogue Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. on May 8. One of the men instructed one of the children to remove a Stihl concrete saw from the shelf, and then the four walked out of the store and fled.

The stolen saw had an estimated value of approximately $1,050.

Surveillance photos caught the two fleeing the store in a dark pickup truck. Other photos from the store show the two men and a child walking into MVP Power Outdoor Equipment.

In response, the Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offered a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the apprehension of the men.
